Help you get the next board-game you love !
Today, crowdfunding is mostly synonymous with Kickstarter. It's the biggest crowdfunding platform there is. It's also got a bunch of metrics that are happy to sing its praises. Kickstarter campaigns have already raised over $7.109 billion.
Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing platform, meaning that if the project doesn't reach its fundraising goal, the project creator doesn't receive any of the money.
There are others crowdfunding platforms which runs similar to Kickstarter, such as Patreon, StartEngine MicroVentures, Indiegogo, Crowdfunder, EquityNet, Fundable, DemoHour, ZhongChou, but its main rival is Gamefound.
Gamefound is a platform derived from the tabletop industry made for board game fans and makers, it's a crowdfunding platform similar to Kickstarter with the differentiation being that it can only be used to host board gaming related projects. For years, it was known as a pledge manager platform.
Kickstarter and Gamefound is not a store, they do not issue refunds for failed projects. When you join a game project, you're supporting a creator's right to try to make something new, and agreeing to go along for the ride, it's all-or-nothing. This means that if game project does not reach the funding goal, money paid will be lost. When joining a game project, you automatically accepted this agreement.
*Kickstarter/gamefound
